Weighbridge Operative

Craigellachie(Full-Time) 

 

 

We currently have a vacancy for a Weighbridge Operative to be based at our Bluehills Quarry at Craigellachie.

The main duties of the role are:

  • Register and Direct incoming haulage vehicles and outgoing materials
  • Conduct all safety procedures for visitors and vehicles
  • Assist with ordering materials, spare parts and consumables
  • Liase with the sales team and customers regarding current and future orders
  • Various administration and reception duties

Good organisational and communication skills are essential as you will also be required to liaise with customers and our Transport/Sales office ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of our products.

Previous administrative experience is be preferred and applicants should hold a current driving licence as you may, on occasion, be required to travel to other Weighbridges to provide cover.

Sales Representative

We are currently seeking to recruit an Sales Representative to support both our Fyfe Glenrock division in Oldmeldrum and our Precast division in Montrose.

You will be responsible for professionally selling and marketing our products and services to both our internal and external customers, predominately within the North of Scotland.

Fabricator / Welder

Rigifa, Cove, Aberdeen(Full-Time) 

  

 

We are currently seeking to recruit a Fabricator / Welder to be based at our Workshop in Cove.

You will be required to carry out repairs, maintenance, fabrication, welding and installation works on our wide range of quarry plant including asphalt, concrete, aggregates and washing systems. In addition sound knowledge of mobile plant will be advantageous.  

All works must be carried out in a safe and efficient manner ensuring the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies are adhered to at all times.

Previous experience in a similar role is preferable and current driving license is essential as you will be required to travel to our other sites as and when required.

You must be a team player who can also work alone in order to meet the demands of this busy division.

Technical Supervisor

Parkmore, Dufftown(Full-Time) 

We are currently recruiting a Technical Supervisor to join our Technical Services team based at Parkmore, Dufftown, Keith. 

Responsible for day-to-day planning and organising of Technicians, equipment and operations, to ensure that all sampling, testing and reporting requirements are met as per the Laboratory Quality Management System and in accordance with the relevant standards and guidance.

 Key Accountabilities 

  • Plan on a daily basis, and in advance, sampling and testing requirements of all materials across our quarries / sites and plants; organise Technicians, equipment and vehicles to cover.
  • Report weekly rates of test and other data which may be required from time to time.
  • Ensure test and related results are processed onto the trends for analysis and reporting on agreed timescales.
  • To ensure all Technicians follow the quality management system and use the latest copies of guidance and British standards during sampling, testing and reporting procedures. 
  • To mentor Technicians to provide advice and assist them in their continuing training and competence.
  • Carry out regular audits as per the audit plan.
  • Ensure all sampling and testing equipment is calibrated, kept clean, and in working order.
  • Raise non-conformance reports (NCR’s) and initiate corrective and preventative action to prevent or rectify any nonconformity.
  • React and instigate changes and measures introduced within the quality management system or Manager as appropriate. 
  • Participate in quality / operational meetings as required.
  • Be a signatory and raise reports for customers as required.
  • Act in an independent manner, comply with confidentiality and impartiality requirements.
  • When required act as a main technical contact for major contracts to ensure their requirements are met.
  • Responsible for ensuring that samples required for submission to testing houses, are collected and despatched timeously as directed.
  • Perform sampling and testing activities supplementary to the Technicians and to keep familiar with those processes.
  • Be prepared to stand in to cover other Technical Services posts if or when the need arises.
  • Promote a team working philosophy whilst motivating and supporting the Technical group.
  • Act as an ambassador for the company ensuring visitors, customers and staff are communicated to in a polite and courteous manner at all times.

 Skills and Experience 

  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
  • Experience in effectively leading a team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of sampling and testing standards of asphalt, concrete and aggregate materials.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Professionalism in dealing with customers and colleagues.

Plant Workshop Foreman

We are currently seeking to recruit a Plant Workshop Foreman for our Workshop at Head Office, Rigifa, Cove.

You will be required to supervise the maintenance and repair of construction and quarry related plant and equipment. You will ensure professional standards of work are achieved and maintained, workshops are run efficiently and productively whilst in compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation.

Responsibilities will include:

     - Organising the Plant team to carry out general maintenance and time critical breakdowns ensuring parts are available to complete the works.

     - Undertaking daily briefings and safety briefings ensuring the team are fully aware of machine status and planned workload. 

     - Adhering to the daily maintenance schedules.

     - Ensuring accurate completion and timely submission of paperwork to include job sheets, requisitions and employee timesheets.

Previous experience in a similar supervisory role is preferred; the ideal candidate would be hardworking, reliable and be able to promote a good team working philosophy.

We are currently looking to recruit a Quarry Manager for our Parkmore Quarry, Dufftown.

You will be responsible for managing and controlling the quarry in accordance with the Quarries Regulations 1999 and all other relevant Health and Safety / Environmental legislation with particular attention to standards of performance, conduct, productivity and discipline.

This role requires an individual who has strong leadership and communication skills that can effectively manage, train and develop the workforce whilst promoting a culture of health and safety excellence.

You will have a proven track record of achieving production targets, driving forward continuous improvements, and maximising process efficiencies at all levels.

Ideally you will hold a SHE NVQ Level 4 and have proven management experience to assist in leading our quarry teams.

Duties Include:

  • Prepare and enforce all Risk Assessments/Safe Systems of Work
  • Plan and utilise all labour, plant and materials
  • Ensure the efficiency and quality of material production
  • Responsible for achieving production and profit related targets
  • Maintain communication with other divisons including the Sales Manager/s and Distribution to meet customer demand and satisfaction 
  • Responsible for all blasting operations
  • Reporting of all material, production, financial information to senior management
  • People Management including maintain a supportive and team working philosphy and identifying training needs

HGV Driver (Mixer)

We are currently recruiting for an HGV Driver – Class 2, to be based at Midlairgs Quarry, Daviot, Inverness.

This post requires to be filled by someone who is a versatile, flexible and willing worker, who has knowledge of the local area. This post will include the use of a Mixer, experience is preferable but training is available to the right candidate.

You will require a sound understanding of the EU rules on drivers hours and be fully conversant with digital tachograph use. A relevant and current Driver CPC card is required.

We are currently seeking to recruit an HGV Mechanic to maintain and repair our wide ranging fleet of vehicles, trailers and powder tankers.  Since the role requires a great degree of independence, extensive experience in fault diagnosis and repairs as well as an ability to work on your own initiative are essential.

The candidate must be able to display working experience of HGV inspections and MOT preparation while undertaking general repairs on various makes of  HGV’s, trailers and light commercials.

You will be comfortable in an engineering environment as the job is very hands on. You will be a team player who can also work alone in order to meet the demands of this busy fleet maintenance division.

We are currently seeking to recruit a Plant Fitter for the maintenance and repair of our wide range of plant and equipment, you will be based at our workshop in Rigifa, Cove however regular visits to other sites is a requirement of the role so you must hold a current driving licence.

These roles require a great degree of independence, extensive experience in fault diagnosis and repairs as well as an ability to work on your own initiative.

The ideal candidate will already come from a mechanical engineering background ideally with demonstrable experience as a mechanical engineer or fitter in the heavy plant or quarrying industry.

You will be a team player who is equally comfortable working alone to meet the demands of this busy plant maintenance division.  Attention to detail along with a focus on Health & Safety is vital for this challenging role.
