Voyageur Spirit Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessel
After a period of two years moored in the flooded dock, the Voyageur Spirit Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel was moved to a quayside mooring location at the end of July. The dry dock is now freed up for future marine projects which need to use the dock in a dry state. A series of new quayside bollards were installed for mooring of the Voyageur which were constructed using concrete supplied from the Kishorn Quarry batching plant.
Bakkafrost Scotland’s new £49 million Fish Hatchery Development
Work continues on construction of Bakkafrost Scotland’s new £49 million fish hatchery development within the port. Leiths has supplied 5,000 m3 of concrete and aggregate materials from Kishorn Quarry for the foundation work and for the fabrication of the large tanks (pictured) within which the fish will be grown.
The concrete was designed with 50% cement replacement which was necessary to comply with the XS1 exposure class specified for reinforced concrete in coastal areas, providing a lower CO2 embodied concrete. Construction work on the hatchery facility will continue well into 2023.
Diamond Offshore Ocean GreatWhite Drilling Rig
KPL welcomed back Diamond Offshore’s Ocean GreatWhite drilling rig in November for a period of anchorage within Loch Kishorn prior to deployment on a drilling campaign.
The Ocean GreatWhite is one of the world’s largest ultra-deep water harsh environment semi-submersible drilling rigs and was previously at Kishorn in 2018 where it was KPL’s first major client since the port and dry dock were brought back into active use. This repeat business is a welcome endorsement of the facilities and services which the port offers.
