In April, Theresa May attended the unveiling of a statue of Millicent Garrett Fawcett, a prominent suffragist.
Fyfe Glenrock, the natural stone company that joined the Group last year, produced the base for the statue. The base was constructed from 5 pieces of Peterhead Granite at the Oldmeldrum works earlier this year, and weighs in at 2.5 tonnes.
It is the first statue of a woman to be erected in Parliament Square. Many of the statue bases in Parliament Square are made of Peterhead Granite, and the designers wanted to maintain the tradition.
