Leiths - H&S Advisor

Rigifa, Cove(Full Time) 

We are currently looking to recruit a H&S Advisor to join our QHSE Department based at Rigifa, Cove.

You will be responsible for using knowledge and skills to promote a positive health and safety culture in the workplace to all employees at all levels providing advice and support on The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other legislation relevant to the Company business ensuring that management and employees comply with safety legislation and that safety policies and practices are adopted and adhered to.

You will have the responsibility for conducting health and safety audits/ inspections and recommending and issuing control measures with reference to all legislative needs after consultation with the Group H&S Director.

The successful candidate should have:-

Previous experience in a similar role

Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skill

Be proficient in the use of MS Office

Hold a clean and current driving licence as travel to other sites will be required

A working knowledge of Environmental and H&S legislation

IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS and NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum

Torrin Quarry, Skye(Full Time) 

We are currently looking to recruit a Quarry Operative for our Torrin Quarry, Skye.

You will be required to carry out routine quarry operations. Ideally you will have industry related experience, knowledge of quarrying operations and experience of operating fixed and mobile plant and machinery.

We are looking for someone who is a versatile, flexible and accommodating worker who has a clean driving licence.

Leiths - Quarry Fitter

Highland Lime, Fort William(Full Time) 

We are currently look to recruit a Quarry Fitter to be based at Highland Lime, Fort William.

You will be required to carry out routine repairs, maintenance, fabrication and installation works on our wide range of quarry plant and equipment which includes crushing and screening, sand and gravel washing, milling and ready mix concrete. In addition a sound knowledge of mobile plant would be advantageous.

All works must be carried out in a safe and efficient manner ensuring the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies are adhered to at all times. Essentially you will be a team player who can also work alone in order to meet the demands of this busy site.

You must hold a current driving licence as you will be required to travel to our other sites as and when required.

Previous experience in a similar role would be desirable.

We are currently looking to recruit 2 Quarry Operatives for our Blackhills Quarry, Cove.

The post requires a current MPQC Wheel Loading Shovel skills card.  Ideally you will have industry related experience and knowledge of quarrying operations. Experience of operating other plant and machinery would be a distinct advantage.

We are currently look to recruit a Plant Workshop Foreman for our Workshop at Rigifa, Cove. 

You will be responsible for supervising the maintenance and repair of the Leiths Group plant and equipment. Ensuring professional standards of work are achieved and maintained, workshops are run efficiently and productively whilst in compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation.

Previous experience in a similar supervisory role is preferred; the ideal candidate would be hardworking, reliable, be able to promote a good team working philosophy and hold a clean driving licence as travel to other sites will be required.

Aberdeen Area(Full Time) 

We are currently look to recruit a Relief Concrete & Asphalt Plant Operative to cover the Aberdeen Area. You will be responsible for carrying out concrete batching, asphalt production and carrying out routine maintenance works.

Ideally you will have industry related experience and a sound working knowledge of concrete and asphalt plant operations and general maintenance activities.

Leiths - Apprentice Fabricator Welder

Rigifa, Cove(Full Time) 

We are currently looking to recruit an Apprentice Fabricator Welder to join our busy Engineering Workshop based at Rigifa, Cove.

During the 4-year term of apprenticeship you will be involved in learning how to use different welding and fabricating techniques to carry out the safe and efficient repairs, maintenance, fabrication, welding and installation works on our heavy plant and equipment in both workshop and off site environments, ensuring that works are being carried out in accordance with Company H&S procedures at all times.

This position is full time and combines the opportunity of paid work with both an on the job and a formal training programme, where attendance at college on a day release basis will be included and assessment of skills will take place via visits from the college assessor.

The ideal candidate must;

  • Be prepared to work as part of a team
  • Be able to work in a dirty and busy environment to meet deadlines
  • Have excellent attention to detail as you will be required to read and understand drawings
  • Have an interest in engineering and be willing to learn
  • Be hard working, self-motivated, honest and trustworthy

The successful candidate will be rewarded with an hourly rate in excess of the current National Minimum Wage for Apprentices and 28 days’ annual leave.

Leiths - Trainee Laboratory Technician

Rigifa, Cove(Full Time) 

We are currently looking to recruit a Trainee Laboratory Technician to join our Technical team based at Rigifa, Cove who has an interest in or experience of Construction Laboratory work.

The Division is involved in laboratory testing of concrete, soils, asphalt and other construction materials to UKAS standards.

The successful candidate would ideally have a minimum of Highers or HND level qualifications or experience in a similar environment.  A valid UK driving license is essential as you will be required to carry out on site sampling and testing.

Leiths - Quarry Supervisor

Northlasts, Peterculter(Full Time) 

We are currently looking to recruit a Quarry Supervisor for our Northlasts Quarry, Peterculter.

Reporting to the Quarry Manager you will be responsible under Section 8 of the Quarries Regulations 1999 for the safe and efficient management of the quarry.

You will need to demonstrate a strong commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental management and possess the necessary competence and leadership skills to promote a positive team.

The ideal candidate should have previous supervisory experience, a sound working knowledge of quarry and coated operations, as well as general maintenance activities. Flexible approach to work and good communication skills are essential for this role.

Previous experience in a similar role is essential as you will require a strong technical knowledge of fixed and mobile plant operations, blast design, shotfiring and quarry development. Ideally you will hold a SHE NVQ Level 3/4

Leiths - Engineering Assistant

Various locations throughout Scotland(Full-time) 

We now have an opportunity for a suitable candidate to join us as an Engineering Assistant to play a key role in installation works throughout our Quarries division.

The position will involve many aspects of on-site engineering works for turnkey projects and refurbishment of existing quarry plant and will require a “hands on” approach. Previous experience in such a role preferred.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will need excellent communication skills, be proficient in organising and planning multiple projects, and be up to date with current CDM Regulations.

Due to the nature of the position you must be flexible and be able to work away from home when required. A current UK driving licence is essential.

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be responsible for our extensive mobile crushing operations throughout Scotland.

 

It is beneficial that you have in depth knowledge of aggregate processing operations ideally originating from a quarrying background.

 

A strong commitment to health and safety leadership is paramount to the role in promoting and maintaining a positive teamworking philosophy at all levels.

 

You will need proven managerial experience and be proficient in organising and planning multiple mobile production operations.

 

Working closely with our Plant Department you will need to plan and implement a robust preventative maintenance programme.
