This is an exciting position for an experienced individual to participate in the success of one of Scotland’s largest privately-owned quarrying and civil engineering businesses by managing the services performed in a number of UKAS accredited laboratories.
Responsible for the safe and effective management of the laboratories and related continuity of testing of construction materials.
Ensure the prompt turn-around of sampling, analysis testing, recording and reporting of all products and incoming materials in accordance with UKAS and BSi accreditation requirements and all other related standards.
Ensure all testing equipment correct to the procedures and is maintained in a good working order with appropriate calibrations undertaken.
Develop new test equipment, procedures and practices as necessary.
Maintain all laboratory records to a high standard in accordance with the Laboratory Management System.
Perform a leading role in the design, research and development of construction materials.
Train, mentor and sign-off of competency of other technical staff on the correct laboratory procedures and practices.
Take a lead and participate in on-going internal and external audits.
Ensure daily interaction with Laboratory Supervisors to assess priorities and execute the assigned workload with minimal supervision
Skills and Experience
In depth knowledge and understanding of British Test Methods and related standards
Previous laboratory experience at a senior level with a good understanding of laboratory quality accreditation eg. UKAS 17025 (ISO 9001)

We are currently recruiting for a Surfacing Screwman / Operative, you will be based at Rigifa, Cove, Aberdeen but will be required to work at various sites across the North East of Scotland, this may require overnight stays.
Applicants should be experienced at operating the Topcon and Moba levelling systems on various pavers, you must also be able to work without the aid of these systems. You will be required to look after any levelling system under your care. Paver types vary within the business from small footpath machines to large 6m wide pavers.
